The American Dream

I am watching "Fixing Dinner" on Food TV right now. The premise of this show is helping people organize meal times with busy schedules. It's a good show. Anyways, in this episode the mother has 4 children ages 1, 3, 6 and 8 years old. Wow! Is this the American dream? Have more children than you can parent (these kids are climbing on the kitchen counters and basically underfoot of the mother all the time. She parents by saying "Get off the counter".) My point is that everytime I turn on the TV and watch any "reality/makeover show" all I see are families with GIANT families and they are usually either unable to afford basic things for them or they can't parent their kids properly and the kids become spoiled. I have nothing against large families, but make sure that you are committed to it and are able to afford the basics...like a healthy place to live instead of spending all the money on toys for the little brats.

I hope to be able to have a large family of my own (3 kids and maybe a dog or two), but I know that I have to plan for it. For 3 kids plus pets I know I need to have a large enough house and enough money to feed them. If I can't afford 3 kids, then I won't have 3 kids.

I'm not going to go off about proper parenting because it's almost futile since no one seems to care about their kids enough to try. If you are having a kid, know and understand that hard work comes with the territory so stop whining to Dr. Phil.

Meow goes the kitty

I heard the craziest thing on the radio this morning as I drove into work. Some lady down in the South of the states has cloned her late pet. This 6-week old kitten is genetically identical to her long-lost beloved cat. My reaction: "What the hell is wrong with people?"

I love science, I have no qualms when it comes down to science, I believe in science. Cloning is a great discovery; true. I don't have a problem with it; but when someone can clone their Fluffy for fifty grand, that doesn't sit right with me. It's not the fact that they're cloning things, it's the fact that people can't get over that their pet kicked the can.

People need to face death because they're afraid of it. People are so scared of things dying on them; it's a natural process for people, pets and house plants to die. I know that one day I will have no remaining Grandparents. Yes, it's hard to come to grips because mourning is a difficult process to go through; but I know that next year, or next week I could get that ellusive phone call. I have lost my Grandfathers, Great Uncles and Aunts, even friends....I have also lost a pet. I have dealt that these family members of my life have gone and passed.

Now, I don't want people to be ragging on me about pets being part of the family and such, I know they are; I understand how important and how they are very tangeble members of the family. I love animals so please don't go ape-shit thinking that I don't.

The thing that I'm scared about is all those people out there who have kids and have a family pet. What is their kid going to think when they realize that Rover is 37 human years old. That's wrong people. Teach kids about death, explain it to them. Hell! Explain it to yourself if you don't get it. Just dig a hole, say a prayer, cry for while and then spend your fifty grand elsewhere.

Republican Class

Way to go Rummy, the country should be proud to have such a fine outstanding secratary of defence. You dont even have the decency to personally sign the letters of condolence sent to families of soldiers killed in action. But instead have a machine do it in your place. Now are their either so many soldiers killed that you dont have enough time, or do you just not care enough to be bothered. Just remember soldiers youre fighting this war with the leaders you have not the leaders you want.

Republicans of the Year

Um all i can think of is the Governator. All the rest would have me arrested as an unarmed combattent. Except for Rupert Murdock he is too fair and balanced to care.

Fuck The NHLPA

Im sick of this dispute, im sick of hearing about this dispute. Should hockey ever resume this season, I aint gonna watch it. Aside from the world juniors, i want nothing to do with hockey for the rest of the year. I am completely fed up with the players union. They have lost all respect from me, all. Puting an offer on the table with any less than a hard cap is crap. The owners have every right to tell them where they can shove it. The league can not support the ridiculious salaries, and the obscene discrepency in revenue between the teams. Americans dont give a shit about hockey, they never have and never will. When the sport rates lower that poker and will soon fall behind soccer as far as popularity you cant have players making over eight million a year. And for fucks sake if Winnipeg cant support a team, what crack addict would think Florida can support two. Should the league start up again next year without a hard cap i want nothing to do with it.

West Germany strikes again.

The US military hospital in Landstuhl, western Germany, said Sunday that it had treated 419 wounded US soldiers from Iraq last week.

On Thursday alone 104 wounded Americans soldiers were brought in by planes and 70 on Saturday, Marie Shaw, a hospital spokeswoman, told local media.

Most of the soldiers were wounded in Fallujah, where US forces had a fierce battle with Iraqi insurgents, and 196 of them were further flown to the United States after initial treatment, Shaw said.

The US hospital in Landstuhl, Rheinland-Pfalz, is the largest military medical facility outside the United States and has up to 300 patient beds.

-I have wanted to post about the Germans helping to save American lives for a few days now and show how the Anti-war countries care about the American soldiers.
It's bad that it has to be said but many American's have this idea that Anti-war means you don't give a shit about the troops. My mom was talking about the war to an American friend and she has to say she was for the troops. Something is wrong here. Why would we want anything to happen to them? We are Anti-war ‘cause we care.

Amerika ist wunderbar

I got the latest Rammstein cd today and one of the first things that struck me was this song “Amerika” and the great line “Amerika ist wunderbar” (no American is not a chocolate bar but it’s wonderful) It got me thinking about how the world seems to see the U.S. with such a great fresh set of eyes sometimes. How America crams their culture down everyone’s throat. They have many great things to offer the world but sometimes we get a little sick of it and even more so in Europe. They also make a good point about Bush making everyone follow them to war claming it’s for “Freedom” and they are the only people that can dole it out. Why do the Americans refuse to listen to anyone from outside their country? As if we are unable to have any incite into their problems. We just want to help. Let us.
